Carré Boumbas Design Competition 2026
Maison Boumbas, founded in 1990, is launching a major artistic creation competition open to African students and young creators from art, design, and fashion schools.
Objective
To design an original motif to be printed on the Carrés Boumbas — the brand’s iconic silk scarves.
Theme
Free interpretation of colors, shapes, and inspirations.

Reward
Euros 100 per selected design + production of the artwork on a Maison Boumbas silk carré.

Full Rules of the “Carrés Boumbas 2026” Competition
Article 1 – Purpose of the Competition
Maison Boumbas is organizing a competition entitled “Carrés Boumbas 2026” aimed at promoting the creativity of young African artists and designers through the creation of patterns intended to be printed on its silk scarves.
Article 2 – Theme
Participants are invited to propose a free, colorful, and contemporary interpretation of this theme, reflecting the dynamism, diversity, and modernity of the continent.
Article 3 – Eligibility
The competition is open to any person residing in Africa, regardless of nationality.
Students enrolled in art, design, or fashion schools are encouraged to participate, but the competition is open to everyone.
Participation is free of charge.
Each candidate may submit multiple creations.
Article 4 – Technical Specifications
THESE SPECIFICATIONS ARE PROVIDED FOR GUIDANCE ONLY. CANDIDATES WHO DO NOT HAVE THE TECHNICAL TOOLS TO MEET THEM MAY SUBMIT THEIR WORK IN ANY FORMAT.
Artwork format: square, minimum size 90 x 90 cm.
Preferred resolution: 300 dpi, RGB color mode (if the creator has the necessary tools).
Preferred file formats: .png, .jpg, or .tiff. If the creator does not have the necessary tools, the file may be submitted in .pdf format.
Each file must include the participant’s name and the title of the artwork.
All submissions must be original, unpublished, and not submitted to any other competition.
Article 5 – Submission of Works
Works must be submitted before July 30, 2026 at midnight (GMT) to the following address: concours@maison-boumbas.com
Each submission must include:
The artwork in digital format.
An identification sheet stating: last name, first name, age, school or status (student/independent), country, email, telephone number.
If the creator wishes, they may attach a short statement of intent (maximum 500 words) explaining their creative approach.
Article 6 – Selection and Awards
A jury composed of representatives of Maison Boumbas, invited artists, and design professionals will select the winning works.
The evaluation criteria will be:
Originality and creativity of the pattern.
Aesthetic and technical quality.
Consistency with the Maison Boumbas brand identity.
The authors of the selected works will receive:
A prize of 100 euros.
The printing of their artwork on a silk scarf in the “Carrés Boumbas 2026” collection.
A mention of their name on communication materials related to the competition.
Article 7 – Copyright and Assignment of Rights
By participating in the competition, each candidate:
Guarantees that their work is original and does not infringe upon the rights of third parties.
Assigns to Maison Boumbas, on an exclusive and permanent basis, the rights of reproduction, representation, and exploitation of their work, for any use related to the brand (print, textile, digital, promotional, commercial media, etc.), without limitation in time or territory.
Waives any additional remuneration other than the prize provided for in Article 6.
Article 8 – Liability
Maison Boumbas shall not be held responsible in the event of loss or corruption of submitted files.
Participants remain responsible for the content they submit.
Article 9 – Timeline
Competition launch: March 1, 2026
Submission deadline: July 30, 2026
Results announced: September 1, 2026 on the website www.maison-boumbas.com
Article 10 – Acceptance of the Rules
Participation in the competition implies full and unconditional acceptance of these rules.
Maison Boumbas reserves the right to modify, postpone, or cancel the competition in the event of force majeure.
